Band co-founder, and bassist Wendell Rand (Pleasuremaker, Tracorum,Youssoupha Siddibe), leads the cast off with his muscular, low end dance grooves. Tasteful, precise and very funky drummer, Paul Oliphant,(The Frail, Funky Miracle) is a serious study in afrobeat/afrofunk drum work. Guitarist David James (Beth Custer), former six-string slinger for the Coup and Michael Franti's Spearhead, brings his explorative, sinewy, rhythmic approach to counter guitarist Ken House's (H. P. Riot, Wade Love Band), chunky rhythms and funk-metal solos that recall the heyday of Parliament-Funkadelic.
Saxophonist David Boyce (Broun Fellinis, Ronkat Spearman), and trumpeter Mike Pitre (Bohemian Knuckle Boogie, Joe louis Walker) "evoke powerful touchstones, from classic Wailers to Ethiopian-style R&B of the early '70s". (SF Weekly). And introducing Sandy House (Wade Love Band), a powerfully sultry and dynamic front person on lead and background vocals and percussion! The Afrofunk Experience has played many stages of the San Francisco festival and club scenes since 2005. The AFE has played the Great American Music Hall, The Independent, Slims, Mezzanine, Boom Boom Room, 111 Minna. Local S.F awards parties like: San Francisco Magazine's Best of the Bay Show, and S.F. Bay Guardian's Best of the Bay Awards, and recently, the SFJAZZ tribute to Maceo Parker.
We've played many other live music venues in and around the SF Bay Area, including: Ashkenaz in Berkeley; The Catalyst, Moe's Alley, and the Crepe Place in Santa Cruz; The Fox Theater in Redwood City. We've played annual San Francisco music festivals Stern Grove, Fillmore Jazz Festival, Outside Lands, and San Francisco's "Carnival". We traveled to play Salem World Music Festival in Oregon, various clubs in the Seattle area, and Cape May Jazz festival in New Jersey. We've enjoyed the opportunity to have played many world music parties like Earthdance, SolFest, Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, Noyo Food Forest's Earthday Celebration in Mendocino.
MISSION PLAYERS:
San Francisco's The Mission Players have established themselves as one of the best live acts around. Their infectious grooves melodically, harmonically and rhythmically blend soul, funk, jazz and blues. "The Mission Players slap on some fresh treads and nice rims and cover ground like champs" Dennis Cook, Jambase.com, Cook's Corner. Grown out of jam sessions in San Francisco's Mission District, Mission Players found their core group in early 2001, consisting of: Mike Mulqueen (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Greg Garvey (Bass), Jason Movrich (Guitar/Vocals), Erik Mekkelson (Sax) and Jesse Hiller (Drums). The band's songs reflect the deep-rooted music of 70s soul and funk and are heavily flavored with influences from Stevie Wonder, James Brown and The Meters. "Our ultimate goal is to produce a high energy live show that makes people need to shake their feet on the dance floor" Mike Mulqueen.
2004 saw The Mission Players release their first full length album entitled, "Live & Livin' It" (SFG Records), recorded live at Elbo Room in San Francisco. The year also saw live dates spread all throughout the state of California and beyond. 2005 found Mission Players touring the ski slopes of Colorado and live dates throughout Southern California and the rest of the state. The band’s highly anticipated CD, "Get Back Soul” was released in 2007. The tracks are super fresh, ultra funky and blend some amazing Soul, Funk and Blues music. The band also completed tour dates throughout Colorado with additional tour dates in Lake Tahoe and throughout Northern California.

Ojo De Buey was born in the year 2007 as an innocent project between friends. Since the beginning the idea was to put together a list of songs and play them in front of an audience. The name "Ojo de Buey" is inspired in a native seed from Costa Rica. It has a very unique shape and is carried by the locals as a good luck charm. Fusion is probably the most important component to describe the essence of the band. Using reggae as the foundation and blending it in with afro –caribbean, latin, rock and roll grooves and positive lyrics, gives great freshness and movement to the band.
August 9, 2010. The band records their first full length album in a beach house located in Playa Herradura, Costa Rica. This was the ideal location to record and reflect the true feeling of the band. After 10 days of living and recording together, the record is sent to Los Angeles, California, where the process continues. The mastering and mixing of the CD is treated professionally, always trying to keep the true and honest sound from where it was recorded. In March 2011, "Sabor en un tiempo cruel" is officially released.

" Free City Presents Cinco de DrinKo FiesTa with THE SKINNY GUNS, One of Many & ORANGuhTANGO"

THE SKINNY GUNS
Cinco de DrinKo FiesTa with THE SKINNY GUNS Georges Nightclub. 5-5-14

The Skinny
The San Francisco Bay Area, an eclectic melting pot of beat poets, east bay punk rockers, long haired hippies, and eccentric artists, has given rise to the sweaty black leather rock and roll music of The Skinny Guns. They are a solid 4 piece band poised to pick up the flag for Alternative Rock. If you are looking for a unique combination of hard hitting rock and soulful grit you will find it here, but the allure of The Skinny Guns runs much deeper than that. They draw their influence from a wide range of artists across all genre’s — 50’s rock, early grunge, even Motown and Soul. Sam Cooke, Joy Division, Queens of the Stone Age, TheDoors, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Kills and Led Zeppelin are just some examples of what you’ll find on their playlists. They are a band with Multiple Personality Disorder, but they like it that way. Somori Pointer (Vocals) A poignant and potent poet/storyteller with a soulful, engaging and enigmatic voice. He also happens to be the nephew of the world famous Pointer Sisters.
Eric Lindsey (Guitar) To him it’s all about interesting rhythms. Then melodies and dynamics. He thrives on simplicity but adds just enough texture with a subtle layering of detail to create the song’s personality. He’s always searching for that sweet spot within each piece. Brian Lindsey (Bass) Every solid cohesive band needs a strong foundation. Once Brian came into the fold on bass the song writing and collaborative dynamic was set in motion.
Conor Acomb (Drums) Tying it all together is Conor on drums. His steady driving rhythm accentuates the other players at just the right moments while still allowing the music to breathe.

One of Many:
One of Many is an American rock band formed in January 2012, in Marin County, CA. The band is noted for it's eclectic musical styles and poetic, yet sometimes obscure lyrics. Their first full length album was released in October of 2013 and titled "Dismammaled," a made up word intended to represent modern day's man lack of connection to his primal ways. Upon the album's release, the band was reformed with Erinn Wilkerson replacing Kyle Stampfli on the bass and Will Vara replacing Cole Miller on the drums. In Spring of 2014 One of Many will begin recording their second full length album titled "Age Old Self," while continuing to play shows and planning for a tour in the near future.
Dana Lindstrom: Guitar and Vocals
Will Vara: Drums
Erinn Wilkerson: Bass
Oranguhtango:
Oranguhtango is an eclectic mix of funky/bluesy/rockin' music. Coming out of the Northern Bay Area, Oranguhtango provides a high energy, theatrical, musical experience that leaves audiences wanting more. We are constantly working on new material and plan to take our show on the road in 2014. With our EP completed in October 2013 (recorded at Prairie
Sun Studios in Cotati, Ca), Oranguhtango is now ready to be heard...
"...The pipe marks the point at which the orangutan ends and man begins." -Ben Jonson.
